Cyber Security

Updated: Nov 18, 2022

Cyber crime is on the rise. It remains our top priority to protect your data and sensitive information.

Here are a few tips to help keep your information secure:

  • Ensure you have Antivirus Protection and a Firewall on your home computers

  • Use strong passwords (not your birthdate but choose something that is easy to remember – maybe a line in your favourite song?)

  • Consider a Password Management Tool (this is not a plug but we use Lastpass, and whilst it takes a little time to set up all your passwords, they are in one spot, secure, and you can appoint emergency access to a trusted family member or executor in the event you do not access the account for a set period)

  • Use Multifactor Authentication where you can – this adds an additional layer of security, instead of just adding in your login and password, you are prompted to then enter a one-off code

  • Be suspicious – of emails, calls, and texts from anyone you don’t know. Do not open emails or text attachments from anyone you don’t know. If you receive a call from one of your providers and you are concerned by their questions - ask the caller for their number and call them back to verify they are legitimate

  • Protect your mobile – install a pin or passcode; keep your device updated as hackers target older operating systems

  • Do not use public Wi-Fi – as hackers can obtain access to information on your device

This is a complex and evolving concern, and we take it very seriously. Our security systems are secure and audited annually. Our team are educated on keeping data safe and uses multifactor authentication across all systems.

If you have any concerns, please call to discuss.
